Playing For Change

Playing for Change is a movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. In 2005, the American producer Mark Johnson creates "Songs Around The World". The first song is a version of Stand By Me singed by Himalaya mountains musicians, South Africa town ships, street musicians in Barcelona and in New Orleans, and so. Some years later, this video has been very popular online, with over 50 millions hits.

This success as well as the success of others songs around the world culminated in the creation of the Playing For Change Band and a non-profit organization called the Playing For Change Foundation, which builds music schools and educational programs in Ghana, Mali, Sudáfrica, Nepal and Rwanda. These schools are really important to transmit the cultural heritage and they also create social and economic activity in developing countries.
From his first album, Songs Around The World, that has sold more than 300.000 copies, has produced several albums and video clips, and they have helped organizations like the UN. Almost all the video clips produced are available on the Internet, on his website www.playingforcahnge.org

The new chapter of Playing For Change: PCF2 Songs Around The World came out in 2011. This new album is a collection of 10 new songs including over 150 musicians from 25 countries, like Baaba Maal, Keb'Mo, Granpa Elliott, Taj Mahal, Tinarjw en, Carlos Vives, Stephen Marley, Clarence Bekker, Char and Toumani Diabaté. An explosive formula that has still succeed in some of the most prestigious stages.
