The Black Snakes

THE BLACK SNAKES is a Rural Blues band composed by Anais Martín a la voz, Hector Martos on guitar, Oriol Fontanals on bass, Pol Jubany on harmonicas and guitar, and Quico Hernandez on washboard.

This formation pays tribute to the first blues of the plantations in "jug band" format, embracing several styles of Afro-American music of the first half of the XX century like: Delta, Ragtime, Swing, Early Jazz or Vaudeville, recreating traditional sounds of Mississippi, Texas or New Orleans.

The band looks for a primitive, fresh and unpretentious sound to transport the audience to the roots of the blues. Within the repertoire you can hear songs from musicians who have influenced the band like Charlie Patton, Washboard Sam, Memphis Minnie or Trixie Smith among others, that mix with themes of the band based on these styles and influences.
